  • Electronic Coupons and Rebates

Personally, I don’t really like coupons. I rarely use the things. In fact, I come close to going berserk in the check-out line at my local grocery store when I see a thick stack of coupons being pulled out by the person ahead of me.

But, even if you are like me, many people do like coupons and coupons are definitely an effective sales tool. So are rebates. And unlike the grocery store check-out line, there’s no waiting in electronic check-out lines.

One of the benefits of using coupons to promote your products and services is that you can place printable coupons right on your website. You can also offer cash rebates on your products in the same way.

Some shopping cart systems, such as the one I use, Kick Start Cart, have a coupon module that generates coupon and discount links. These discounts are automatically applied at check-out when someone gets to my site by clicking on one of these links. When clicking on one of these links, customers are taken to check-out and the coupon or rebate information is automatically populates the proper discount fields. This little step is also a time saver, so your customers will be doubly appreciative.

People like to get good deals on the things they buy. Using electronic coupons and rebates is one good way of doing this. And, as a bonus, some people shop specifically for discounted products, so if you are known as a merchant who gives coupons from time to time, you’ll be on the “watch list” of these bargain shoppers.

For more information about shopping carts, visit ECommerce with Shopping Carts.

    Supplements for Rookies

The supplement industy has become a rapidly growing business over the years. Forget the days of creatine, chalky protein powders and basic multivitamins. There are so many different brands of products available to the public but which ones are good and which ones suck?

To many bodybuilders waste to much money on supplements than what they need to be. A proper training routine and diet does ninety percent of the bodybuilding equation. Supplements fill the other ten percent of the missing void. Many people are led to believe supplements are miracles in a bottle, but guess what? They are wrong!

There are supplements that you do need, however. A multivitamin works well because it gives your body the proper vitamins it needs. A good fat source is crucial as well. Fish oil and flax seed oil are the most common types but any EFA(Essential Fatty Acid) will work too. Protein powders, BCAA(Branched Chained Amino Acids), and glutamine are also good additions to your daily supplement regimine if you can afford them.

Other supplements such as creatine, no2, and zma`s results will depend on the individual and how well their bodies respond to the product. Don`t buy into the lies supplement companies use like the ones guaranteeing 10,000,000 times better results than that of their rivals. Companies also hire bodybuilders to promote their products but more times than not, that bodybuilder doesn`t even use the product he promotes.

So if you`re going to use supplements to achieve your fitness goals, start with the basics and use trial and error effectively as you try out new products. Don`t expect a miracle result like your are led to believe, concistency within your training, diet , and sleeping patterns will be much more effective. Until next time, Later!

Business Growth Commitment: The Right Plan for Success

Successful business owners, CEO’s, and managers typically agree that in the business world, failing to plan is planning to fail. They are determined to move their businesses forward and have, at the very least, a general plan of attack. While they may not be completely confident in some of the specific strategies selected, they are committed to staying the course and doing what it takes to reach goals.

Unfortunately, what many professionals find out after the fact is that true commitment to growth is not just a mindset. It involves incorporating specific elements into the overall business plan that will make ideas come to life. Consider the following to ensure that you have the right plan for success.

As with any journey, you’ve got to know your final destination before you head out. Make sure that your plan, and every aspect of your plan, is created, with the end in mind. As a leader, you need to be the visionary that uses tried-and-true techniques to turn dreams into reality. Take a day, go away, and put your dreams on paper. Write out exactly what you want your business to look like, feel like, and do for you. Write out your specific financial goals, and determine the resources (time and money) that you are willing to allocate.

Once on paper, reassess your vision to ensure that it is attainable. (Even if you are confident that it is!) Defend your vision on paper. Write out why the vision is realistic and how it will fit in with your values and culture. You may find that you have questions that need to be addressed before you are able to do this. Take the time to explore the answers. Also, run your vision and concepts by professional peers, consultants, and/or family/friends. An outside perspective can offer extremely valuable information and insight.

When this process is complete, you will have a concrete vision that you can communicate to your team. Each team member needs to understand the vision and their role in making this vision come to life. Everyone needs to understand that while, your company will be firmly grounded in taking care of the business as it is today, each member will be required to always keep one foot in the future.

With your team on board, together you can determine the specific goals and resources that will be needed to achieve these goals. The key word here is specific. For instance, if you indicate that in order to achieve your vision, you need to grow the sales department by 10% each year, it must be clear what exact strategies are needed to make that happen. For example, goals will be met by 1) adding two additional sales representatives, 2) offering training to increase effectiveness of sales calls and closing techniques, 3) tracking daily inquiries and sales calls, and 4) developing incentives based upon successful inquiry conversion rates.

At the beginning of a journey, energy levels and momentum are high. Unfortunately, human nature kicks in, and team members start to realize that in order to reach goals change will be necessary. Resistance occurs, barriers go up, and your clear vision becomes harder to see.

Change-resistance is human nature. Change is stressful and takes us out of our comfort zone. But, change means survival in the business world. Your past efforts should be seen as a guide rather than the answer for future success. And, the best time to change is when you don’t have to! Be proactive and make sure you are being driven by your own progressive goals and dreams and not pushed by external forces. The market around you is changing constantly, and you’ve got to stay on top of it or your company is destined for mediocrity at bestfailure at worst.

Incorporate the issue of change into your business plan. Open lines of communication; discuss changes that will be occurring and how everyone will benefit from these changes. Discuss change itself and how it is natural to resist it and to fear the unknown. Discuss how your organization will be one that embraces change and is dedicated to growth. You will find that instead of jumping ship, your crew will begin to become even more loyal as you weather the seas of change together and begin to see progress.

Finally, in order to truly commit to business growth, your organization as a whole must become one that understands and values marketing action. It may help to first understand that marketing is not something you can avoid or choose not to be involved with. Nor is it one action, such as advertising or sales. Marketing is the entire business of doing business. It is all action, both minor and major, that directly affects profitability. If your customer or prospect sees, hears, feels, or touches itit’s marketing! Your team needs to understand that your action, or inaction, in this area means success or failure for your organization.

Prompt action by creating a marketing plan that supports your business plan. First, include how you will position your company, products, and services. Determine how you will communicate to your targets how they will benefit from using you or your product. Why should you be selected over others? This message can formulate the base for the areas needed to promote your product: advertising, public/community relations, Web/Internet marketing, and direct sales/service campaigns. Include what action is needed within each marketing strategy area, and commit to its completion. Marketing action should be seen as an investment, with each action bringing you closer to reaching your growth goals.

Business growth should be seen as a journey, with your plan being your roadmap to success. But, as business failure statistics show us, the road ahead is not always so smooth. Start with the end in mind; write down your visions/goals, and open communication lines with your team. Become an organization that embraces change and accepts that, oddly enough, change is the only thing in the business world that is constant. And, develop and follow a marketing plan of action that will work hand-in-hand with your business plan. Following the right plan equals commitment to growth and success for your business.

What are Trolls, Zombies and Demons in The Online World?

I’m surrounded by strange jargon and I feel like an extra in a B-grade horror
movie. One mailing list I’m on has “trolls”, and the latest virus can turn my computer
into a “zombie”, and my ISP keeps talking about “demons”! Egads! Do I need some
sort of exorcist to use my computer now??

On the assumption that you aren’t John Carpenter and that you aren’t trolling my
weblog, let me tell the scoop here! First off, don’t panic, don’t call in an exorcist,
and for goodness sake, don’t spill a bowl of pea soup on your keyboard!

Like any community, the online community has evolved its own specialized
language to more accurately communicate concepts. There are some famous
examples of professional languages, but my favorite is that Australian butchers
created a language where they literally spoke backwards so that they could talk
without customers having a clue what they were saying.

But back to our own particular form of communication!

Participate on a mailing list or discussion board long enough and you’ll find that
there are certain people who pop in and add messages that are either diametrically
opposed to the shared values of the group or subtly insulting or demeaning. If the
author is just offensive, well, there are people like that everywhere, unfortunately.
    They’re just, well, offensive.

But there are other people who post offensive material for effect, to produce a
reaction and rile up the members of the community. They’re trolls. If you go to an
Apple Macintosh discussion group and post “Macs are garbage and all cool people
use PCs”, or go to a United Nations weblog and post “The UN is the tool of Satan” or
add a comment on the Holocaust Museum Web site that “the Holocaust is a fiction
invented by Zionists”, odds are pretty darn good you’re a troll.

Most communities ignore trolls or, sometimes, one person responds with “troll:
ignore” or similar to ensure that even new community members avoid wasting their
time trying to engage the author in a debate. Sometimes, though, groups can spin
out of control completely where the troll engages in an increasing incoherent debate
with community members, who, predictably, start foaming at the mouth because of
this person assailing their core, fundamental beliefs.

Referring to the original definition of trolls, I think they’d all do best to just climb
back under their bridges and wait for the next person to come across, personally.

Zombie computers are, like the staggering mindless hulks that star in all those B-
grade movies, doing things without you being able to control them. Typically
nefarious things, like sending out thousands upon thousands of Web page or
network ping requests (that’s called more formally a distributed denial of service
attack), helping spread a virus (which is so common that people forget that most
virii actually take over a computer), or, the latest twist, serve as spam relay points,
blindly sending out thousands of unwanted junk email messages.

My understanding of how this works is that a computer - typically a PC running
Windows - is infected by a virus which then launches a program running secretly on
the computer. Think “brain eating fungus” here. That program then communicates
with a central control program that sends it a master email message and a list of
thousands of email addresses. The connection is severed, and your Dell, Gateway,
HP, Toshiba, or other PC suddenly starts opening up and firing off email after email.
All with your return address, your return IP on the tracking data, and without any
telltale “Mailer: Zombie Mail 1.35 (installed by B.xx virus on 2 Feb 05)” header to let
people know you’re not the bad guy.

To revive a zombie computer you need to sacrifice a chicken, pouring the blood into
the … oh, no. Sorry, wrong article. What you need to do is run an antivirus program
from its boot CDROM (which, by definition, is clean and virus-free), which should be
able to at least quarantine if not kill the zombie infection.

Finally, when your ISP talks about demons, she’s really talking about Unix programs
that run “in background” 24×7, and they’re properly spelled “daemons”. If you’re
reading this message, you’ve sent a Web page query to the Web server daemon
running on my own server, and if you then follow-up by sending me an email
message that explains why we never have angelic or positive metaphors in the
online world (which I’d love to discuss!) then your email program would connect to
my email daemon, running a protocol known as the simple mail transfer protocol
    (SMTP).

A long answer for a simple question, but in a medium built around writing and
broadcast communication, and initially designed by nerdy misfits who preferred
Dungeons & Dragons to cocktail parties with the sorority across the street, it should
be no surprise that the jargon is so colorful and evocative.

    Free Real Estate Investing Course

So you know you have what it takes to make a healthy living in the investment real estate market but you don’t know where to get started? This FREE real estate investing course will show you the process used by some of the biggest names in the industry and how they got started in the industry ( you can bet it wasn’t searching for months in their hometown for ugly fixer uppers). Remember, if you think cents you’ll make cents, if you think dollars - you’ll make dollars.

If you’re going to devote your life to a real estate career then why not choose a path where the profits are big and the risks are small? Do you really think your time is well spent competing in the “We Buy Ugly Houses” cults that dominate every newspaper classifieds? Of course not, you’ve had enough of the rat race and now you’re ready to make a name for yourself in the profitable investment real estate industry. Do you think The Donald spent his early days buying run down houses in New York and fixing them up or do you think he started actually investing in preconstruction investment properties.

This Free Real Estate Investing Course is designed to give both the newcomer and the experienced investor a chance to succeed in the investment real estate market. The main way to succeed in the investment real estate industry is simply to use common sense, of course it helps if you are also armed with an education of the industry. This is why it’s important to learn as much as you can about the industry and read as many real estate articles as you can and meet with local agents and developers. The more contacts you can gain the better.

    1. Don’t Believe the Hype - Sorry to be the barer of bad news but many of these real estate “gurus” don’t know any magic tricks to making money in real estate. It’snot that they are ill informed it’s that their is NO MAGIC TRICK. It’s fairly easy rules that everyone knows and few people actually take the time to do. These real estate agents often times fail selling real estate so go to selling over priced CD sets instead. Here’s an interesting thing to do on a Saturday evening, do a search online and add the keyword “scam” or “rip off” after your favorite real estate gurus name. If you’re going to follow the right real estate investing course then you need to get these fairytales out of your head before you get started.

    2. Save Up Capital / Build Credit Score - If you want to invest in real estate the right way you’ll need money for down payments and reservations. If someone tells you it’s possible to make millions with no money chances are they’re trying to sell you something (probably an over priced CD set). If it was possible to make millions with no money everyone in the industry would be millionaires in a few months. If you’re serious about investing be sure to have capital and a good credit score before buying your first project.

To build your credit score there are a number of easy ways. I’d recommend logging in to your favorite search engine and searching for phrases like “build my credit score” and “raising my credit score”.

    3. Find an Investment Brokerage - No matter how many free articles you read or research on the industry you should still find yourself a responsible real estate brokerage that specializes in preconstruction and investment real estate. You can only know so much first entering the market and brokerages have their fingers on the pulse of the industry. An educated investment brokerage will know what developers to stay away from and which ones have a healthy track record or which locations in a city are growing and which are going to be dominated by HUD or section 8 in the next few months.

    4. Research Multiple Cities - Don’t just buy investment real estate in a city because a friend of a friend did really well there. You never know what factors were involved in the transaction or even worse if it really happened. Cities usually only have a few years of substantial growth before it cools down so must be careful of outdated information. While you’ll still make a decent profit in almost any major city if you do your due diligence wouldn’t you rather invest in an explosive market where real estate is skyrocketing?
***Note: As of Nov 8, 2005 I believe the best markets now are Orlando, Miami, and Las Vegas.***

    5. Read Free Real Estate Investing Courses - Although most of the free advice you get is often the most expensive there is much to be learned from every author or expert. The trick is to read as many of these free real estate investing courses and only pick out the useful information and let the rest go. I can honestly say that I learn something useful from every free real estate investing course I read. Maybe I learn that a certain person has no clue what they’re talking about and I make a mental note or maybe I learn a new technique that I haven’t thought of yet. Either way free investment real estate courses are very useful if you stay educated in the market and don’t rely too much on them for all your information.

Why do I say research free real estate investing courses and not the expensive ones? If a real estate brokerage or agent needs to sell CD’s or books to make a living chances are they are not as knowable about the real estate industry as you think. Also, they all tend to regurgitate the same information over and over again.

Wedding Rings, To Match or Not To Match

If you look in any jewellers the choice of wedding rings can seem bewildering.

There are sets of matching wedding rings made from almost any precious metal and can be as elaborate or simple as your heart desires.

However, there is no written rule that states that the bride and groom should have matching wedding rings.

Many brides fail to consider whether their wedding rings will actually be complimented by their engagement rings. For example, I chose a white gold engagement ring so there is no point me even looking at the traditional yellow gold wedding rings as they will just not be suitable.

My partner, on the other hand, prefers yellow gold wedding rings. So, we decided that we were not going to have matching wedding rings after all and both of us began looking at very different colours and styles of wedding rings.

If are are sentimental then your wedding rings can be made for you from an older piece of gold or silver. This can be a good idea if jewelry has been left to you by a relative. Having it made into your wedding rings is a nice way of “keeping them with you”.

Platinum wedding rings are becoming increasingly popular too which adds to the amount of choice available.

More men are choosing wedding rings that have decorated edges or even small gemstones inlaid in them with the plain yellow gold band of traditional wedding rings becoming less of a popular choice.

At the end of the day, you are intending to wear your wedding rings for the rest of your life so it makes sense to choose ones that you are comfortable wearing and not simply because they match.

Lorna Mclaren has an information and resources website at http://www.a1-ourwedding.com where you can gather everything you need to organize your Wedding Day

Reverse Mortgage: An investment for your future

As seniors today grow into retirement, more and more are finding
that their savings and retirement plans are less and less unable
to cope with the rising cost of medical services, inflation, and
the burden of unforeseen emergencies. More and more seniors have
to cash in annuities, investments, and take out high payment
equity loans just to make ends meet. With this, the threat of
bankruptcy and financial ruin are becoming more and more a
reality for the everyday senior. One way to avoid all of these
problems is with a Reverse Mortgage.

A Reverse Mortgage is a government sponsored program that has
been federally regulated and insured by the Department of
Housing and Urban Development as a way for seniors to maximize
their financial situation with no risk to senior’s investment
base or net wealth. What a Reverse Mortgage is designed for is
to allow a senior to utilize the most common form of wealth, the
equity in the home, to safely provide a large amount of funds. A
Reverse Mortgage allows for a senior to generally receive
anywhere of 30-60% of the home’s value, tax-free, and with no
payment obligation. A senior is never required to pay back a
Reverse Mortgage for as long as they live in their home.

The Reverse Mortgage will provide a lump sum, a monthly annuity
payment, or a line of credit for the senior, or a variety of
extremely flexible combinations. There are no restrictions on
how the money can be used, and all of the funds are not included
in an income tax assessment and they do not affect social
security or Medicare benefits whatsoever. The entire program,
including debt management and interest rate of the loan, is
regulated by the Federal government to increase the safety for
the senior, and because there are no payments or fees required
during the life of the loan, there is never a chance for default
or foreclosure on the home. The Reverse Mortgage has been
designed to let allow the senior to use the accumulated wealth
of the home, without having to sell the home, put their home at
risk, or add to their monthly burden with a large immediate
    repayment.

The Reverse Mortgage is also commonly used as a means for
seniors, who may not find themselves in financial difficulty, as
a source of investment capitol. The investment marketplace of
today has never been a creative or diverse and more seniors that
ever are looking for a way to utilize some of these very
productive investment vehicles, but are struggling to find the
money. Cashing in a savings bond/stock/mutual fund/401k or
having to do a 1035 exchange are normally the only means of
finding the funds for a new investment, but with the Reverse
Mortgage, a senior can make available a large amount of tax-free
funds, without adding a monthly payment burden, and use the
money for a large variety of undertakings. Besides investment,
seniors use the funds from a Reverse Mortgage for long-term care
or insurance policies, tax-free gifts for charities or for
grandchildren’s futures, or to begin the distribution of their
estate today instead of down the road when they will have less
    control of their legacies.

A Reverse Mortgage is another means for many seniors to maximize
their financial situation while keeping their home safe from
financial trouble and unfair or unscrupulous situations. The
design of the program, the benefits of the funds, and the ease
of acquiring one, has made the Reverse Mortgage one of the
fast-growing senior financial ventures in America.
